Princess Peach, Kirby and DAVE THE DIVER run on the Mac

Princess Peach: Showtime!, Kirby Star Allies and DAVE THE DIVER run on the Mac, iPhone and iPad apps get an in-game menu, and NX2Apple 1.1.0 is out.

Three more Games run on the Mac. None has been built for iPhone or iPad yet.

  • Princess Peach: Showtime! plays at 60 fps instead of 30, at its normal speed, from a new game through the whole first play.
  • Kirby Star Allies runs with update 4.0.0a at 30 fps in the stages, through the opening, the World of Peace map and the start of Green Gardens.
  • DAVE THE DIVER runs with update 1.0.6.1267 at 30 fps, the rate the game asks for, from a new game through the first dive to the sushi bar.

On iPhone and iPad, a gear at the top centre of the touch controls now opens an in-game menu. Console mode, the new Picture setting (Fit, or Fill to cover the screen and crop the edges), the frame-rate counter and the controller layout change there at once, without restarting the game. Games also lay out in portrait, on a half-folded iPhone Duo and in iPad windows. See Settings and Controllers.

Breath of the Wild and Animal Crossing: New Horizons can now fill a taller screen, such as the iPhone Duo's, in its own shape with the Picture shape setting, instead of a 16:9 picture with bars.

On the Mac, holding a controller's Home button for 2 seconds opens a quit prompt, so you can quit a game from the couch without a keyboard. Newly packed Mac apps also turn off macOS Game Mode, which held the GPU at its lowest clock and dropped Tears of the Kingdom to 30 fps in full screen. The packing script now stops at once when your keys are older than the game, and names the key it misses.

Fixes players will notice:

  • Super Smash Bros. Ultimate no longer stops when its single-player mode starts.
  • Breath of the Wild on the Mac no longer stays at 30 or 20 fps after a heavier scene.
  • Monster Hunter Rise on the Mac takes a typed name on the first OK.
  • Super Mario RPG's sunlit battle ground is lit again.
  • Xenoblade Chronicles 3's cutscenes no longer flicker between bright and dark.

For 60 fps, bring update 1.1.2 to DRAGON QUEST III HD-2D Remake, 1.2.0 to DRAGON QUEST VII Reimagined, 1.0.3 to Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered and 1.1.1 to TRIANGLE STRATEGY.

The NX2Apple Launcher 1.1.0 lets you arrange the touch controls, remap controller buttons on iPhone and iPad, and quit a game by holding Home. Version 1.0.2 added exporting an IPA.
