Galaxy 2 cutscenes, iPhone memory and NX2Apple 1.2

Super Mario Galaxy 2's storybook cutscenes fill the screen again, big games get more room on iPhone, fixes for five Games, and NX2Apple 1.2.

No new Games today, but several fixes for Games already on the list.

  • Super Mario Galaxy 2: the storybook cutscenes no longer appear squeezed with black bars at the sides. They fill a 16:9 screen again.
  • Pokémon Legends: Arceus: a crash that three players hit on the Mac after 37 to 65 minutes of play is now worked around on update 1.1.1. Its cause is still open.
  • Pokémon Scarlet: a freeze where the picture stopped while the sound played on, reported on version 4.0.0, has a fix. It was checked outside the game only, and it was reported on Pokémon Violet too.
  • TRIANGLE STRATEGY: moving sprites that flickered black at 60 fps on a busy graphics chip should now stay clean. The fix is not fully proven and has not been run on an M1 Mac.
  • Tears of the Kingdom: Mac apps now give the game as much address space as the Switch does, which may end the memory-shortage Blood Moon seen after about 87 minutes. A long session has not confirmed it yet.
  • FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE: packing the Asian release's update 1.0.1 no longer stops at the shader step.
  • Absolum: update 1.2.1 now packs too, though it has not been run.

On iPhone and iPad, a game that needs more memory than iOS allows an app now keeps part of it in files that iOS does not count against that limit, so iOS is less likely to close it. This is on only for games that would not fit, and it uses disk space while you play.

In games that play sound through two audio renderers, one no longer overwrites the other's sound, which had made sound effects go missing.

NX2Apple reached version 1.2. A Windows version of the launcher is now on its releases page, iPhone and iPad games it builds no longer have to be rebuilt after an engine update before they start, a Joy-Con pair can be split into two controllers on the Mac, and games support the Steam Controller (2026).
