No emulator needed: FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE runs natively on the Apple chip. How nxnative compares with emulators
Running through nxnative

How FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE runs
FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE plays on the iPhone and, with update 1.0.1, runs at 60 fps instead of the 30 fps it has on the Switch. Its Packed app came to about 10 GB when the project developers last published sizes.
How it runs
The game asks for 30 fps through its engine settings; nxnative sets it to 60 whenever the game resets it, and because the game steps its world by the time that really passed, it plays at normal speed. On the Mac, it was tested through the first-boot brightness screen, the title, a new game on Normal difficulty, the opening cutscene, the first field with its autosave, continuing from that save, and the first two battles, at 60 fps.
Bring update 1.0.1
The 60 fps result and every other fact on this page apply to update 1.0.1. Put the 1.0.1 update in the same folder as the base game before you Pack.
Controls
The Packed app starts in the 3D touch layout: a left stick, a D-pad and the face buttons, with a right stick that is not drawn. Touch anywhere in the right third of the screen that has no control on it, and that touch works as the right stick, centred where your finger lands.
Good to know
- In one of two test runs the screen went black for a moment while a new game loaded. nxnative now handles the cause, but the project developers have not re-run this game since.
- If you would rather save battery, a frame-rate setting of 30 keeps the game at its original 30 fps. Set it on the app's settings screen or with
DM_FPS_TARGET=30in the app'senv.txtfile.
Known issues
- In one of two test runs the screen went black for a moment while a new game loaded; nxnative has a fix for the cause, but it has not been re-run on this game.
Packing command
Run this in your nxnative folder on the Build Mac. Replace the game folder and the keys path with your own. Add --platform mac-app to get a Mac app instead of an iPhone and iPad app.
python3 scripts/build_ipa_from_nsp.py ~/Games/final-fantasy-resonance -k ~/keys/prod.keysPut update 1.0.1 in the game folder to get 60 fps.
