How SteamWorld Heist II runs

SteamWorld Heist II plays on the Mac at 60 fps with sound. A short check covered the Thunderful logo, the title menu, a new game with the tutorial, the 80-second intro movie and the start of the first mission, Royal Navy Shipyard, including its dialogue and a move. A second start listed the save and continued into the mission, so saving and loading work. An iPhone app has been built but not tried on a device.

How it runs

nxnative runs the game with no game-specific fixes. In play, frames stay at 60 fps. During the intro movie, about one frame in four takes longer than it should, so playback may look slightly uneven; the cause has not been pinned down.

On a first start without prepared graphics, a few short waits appeared on the menus and when the first mission loaded. A Mac app prepares them in advance. The project developers have not yet recorded the list that would do the same for the iPhone app.

Packing command

Run this in your nxnative folder on the Build Mac. Replace the game folder and the keys path with your own. Add --platform mac-app to get a Mac app instead of an iPhone and iPad app.

python3 scripts/build_ipa_from_nsp.py ~/Games/steamworld-heist-ii -k ~/keys/prod.keys
