No emulator needed: Persona 4 Golden runs natively on the Apple chip. How nxnative compares with emulators
Running through nxnative
How Persona 4 Golden runs
Persona 4 Golden plays on the Mac at 60 fps. Testing covered the opening movie with sound, the title screen and its menu, a new game through the first notices, and the Velvet Room scene. Over a long run of nearly 10,000 frames, nothing went wrong. No iPhone app has been built yet.
How it runs
nxnative runs this game with no game-specific changes: Atlus's engine needed only nxnative's standard handling. The game keeps its data in a handful of large archives, which nxnative reads directly. Memory came to about 1.4 GB once the opening scenes had loaded.
Bring update 1.0.2
Only update 1.0.2 has been tested; the base game and update 1.0.1 are not registered. Put update 1.0.2 in the same folder as the base game before you Pack.
Controls
The Packed app starts in the 3D touch layout, as the game uses the full controller. The project developers have not checked how well the touch layout works in play.
Good to know
- Only the opening was played; the rest of the story has not been checked.
Known issues
- It has not been tried on iPhone, and the touch layout has not been checked with this game.
Packing command
Run this in your nxnative folder on the Build Mac. Replace the game folder and the keys path with your own. Add --platform mac-app to get a Mac app instead of an iPhone and iPad app.
python3 scripts/build_ipa_from_nsp.py ~/Games/persona-4-golden -k ~/keys/prod.keysFAQ
