How Bastion runs
Bastion plays on the Mac at 60 fps with music. Tested through the publisher and Supergiant logos, the title, the main menu and Story in Normal Mode, then the opening in The Rippling Walls, where the ground assembles under the Kid as he walks. The iPhone app is about 0.9 GB.
How it runs
Supergiant's engine sits on an early version of MonoGame, which nxnative had not met before. Three general fixes were needed: reading the game's graphics effects, a crash at the very first frame, and the older audio format of this Switch SDK, which had left the game silent. With them, the game runs smoothly and memory stays around 1.3 GB.
Version
Tested with the base game, version 1.0.0; no update was checked.
Controls
The Packed app starts in the 2D touch layout. At the start the Kid stays in bed until you move the stick.
Good to know
- In two early test starts the game stayed on its first frame. Every start since then has gone on normally, and the cause is unknown.
- Only the opening walk was played.
Known issues
- It has not yet been played on iPhone.
Packing command
Run this in your nxnative folder on the Build Mac. Replace the game folder and the keys path with your own. Add --platform mac-app to get a Mac app instead of an iPhone and iPad app.

Does Bastion work with nxnative?
Yes. Bastion is tested with nxnative on update 1.0.0.
Which iPhone, iPad or Mac do I need to play Bastion?
An iPhone 15 Pro or newer (A17 Pro chip or later) or an iPad with an M1 chip or later, on iOS or iPadOS 26 or later, or a Mac with Apple silicon. iPads with the A17 Pro chip (iPad mini) have the iPhone 15 Pro's chip but are untested by nxnative. Packing needs a Mac with macOS 26.6 or later and Xcode 27.1.
Is Bastion included?
No. Neither this site nor nxnative includes any game. You Pack Bastion from your own copy of the game, with keys dumped from your own Switch.
Does online play work in Bastion?
Online play in Bastion is not confirmed to work, so do not count on it.
