How Raging Loop runs

Raging Loop is a visual novel that needed no changes to nxnative at all: it worked with fixes already made for other Games. It is light, too. The iPhone app came to about 0.9 GB in the last published sizes.

How it runs

On the Mac, testing covered the publisher logo, the opening movie with sound, the title, the options, and a new game through the tutorial and prologue: the date card, the opening pictures, choices, the in-game menu, the scenario chart and the log. The game runs at 60 fps, as it does on the Switch, and saves work. Memory use stays low, under 1 GB.

The project notes describe it as playable on an iPhone.

Controls

The game does not read the touch screen, so play it with the virtual gamepad or a controller. The Packed app starts in the 2D touch layout.

  • A advances the text and selects.
  • B goes back.
  • X opens the menu, Y the scenario chart and L the log.
  • R turns on auto mode.

Menus respond to the left stick as well as the D-pad. No menu item is highlighted until you press a direction.

Good to know

  • Tested with the base game, version 1.0.0.

Packing command

Run this in your nxnative folder on the Build Mac. Replace the game folder and the keys path with your own. Add --platform mac-app to get a Mac app instead of an iPhone and iPad app.

python3 scripts/build_ipa_from_nsp.py ~/Games/raging-loop -k ~/keys/prod.keys
