How Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition runs

Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition plays on the Mac at 60 fps in its menus and battles. Tested with update 1.0.1 through the first-run questions, the title, the mode menu, Legend Mode's opening movie and the first battle, The Armies of Ruin, with its cutscenes, past 200 KOs. No iPhone app has been built yet.

How it runs

The game itself asks for 60 fps in menus and battles and 30 fps for its movies, so nxnative needs no frame-rate change. Its battles move by the time that really passed: the mission clock keeps real time, and Link covers the same ground at 30 or 60 fps.

The game's movies, including the moving background of the title screen, play.

On the Mac about 3.4 GB of memory was in use in the first battle.

Controls

The Packed app starts in the 3D touch layout, with the camera on the right stick.

Good to know

  • A fresh save asks two first-run questions (Easy mode, and the control style) on every start until the game has saved.
  • The project developers have not listened to the sound yet.
  • A whole battle to its end and the other modes have not been tested yet.
  • Tested on update 1.0.1. Other versions may behave differently.

Known issues

  • No iPhone app has been built or tested yet.
  • The sound has not been listened to yet.
  • Only the first battle of Legend Mode has been played, not to its end; the other modes are untested.

Packing command

Run this in your nxnative folder on the Build Mac. Replace the game folder and the keys path with your own. Add --platform mac-app to get a Mac app instead of an iPhone and iPad app.

python3 scripts/build_ipa_from_nsp.py ~/Games/hyrule-warriors-definitive-edition -k ~/keys/prod.keys
