How Fire Emblem Engage runs

Fire Emblem Engage plays on the iPhone and, with update 2.0.0, runs at 60 fps instead of the 30 fps it has on the Switch. Its Packed app came to about 15 GB when the project developers last published sizes.

How it runs

The game already contains a 60 fps path, which it uses only in some scenes. nxnative makes the game always pick it, so the game itself runs at 60 fps and its frame-counted logic keeps its normal speed. It was one of the first Games to reach 60 fps under nxnative.

Bring update 2.0.0

The 60 fps result and every other fact on this page apply to update 2.0.0. Put the 2.0.0 update in the same folder as the base game before you Pack.

Controls

The Packed app starts in the 2D touch layout (left stick, face buttons, shoulders, minus and plus). The layout button at the top centre switches layouts in game, and the app remembers your choice.

Good to know

  • At about 15 GB, the Packed app may be too big for some sideloading setups. nxnative's packing script can keep the game files out of the app with --romfs separate; see the install guide.
  • After you switch away from the app and back, some sounds may stay silent until you restart it.

Known issues

  • After you switch away from the app and back, some sounds may stay silent until you restart it.

Packing command

Run this in your nxnative folder on the Build Mac. Replace the game folder and the keys path with your own. Add --platform mac-app to get a Mac app instead of an iPhone and iPad app.

python3 scripts/build_ipa_from_nsp.py ~/Games/fire-emblem-engage -k ~/keys/prod.keys

Put update 2.0.0 in the game folder to get 60 fps.
