How Metroid Prime Remastered runs

Metroid Prime Remastered plays on the Mac at 60 fps. Tested with the base game, version 1.0.0, through the title, the save slot and difficulty menus, a new game's opening (the briefing and the gunship's approach) and about a minute on the Frigate Orpheon's landing deck: walking, turning and firing, with the HUD, hint texts and lock-on markers. No iPhone app has been built yet.

How it runs

Frames hold a steady 60 fps on the Mac; the only longer frames come from loading and from the first use of new effects.

The Frigate's hull and rooms first drew black under the HUD, because the game's fog effect came out empty. nxnative now draws it, and the world shows.

Controls

The Packed app starts in the 2D touch layout.

Good to know

  • A translucent cyan panel with a grid stands between two red lights where Samus lands, and fills the left of the view as she walks past it. It looks like one of the Frigate's holograms, but it has not been compared with the Switch.
  • The game makes sound, but the project developers have not listened to it yet.
  • The Frigate's interior, Tallon IV, the visors, the Morph Ball, bosses and the game's movies have not been tested yet.
  • Tested with the base game, version 1.0.0; no update was checked.

Known issues

  • No iPhone app has been built or tested yet.
  • Only the opening and the Frigate Orpheon's landing deck have been played.

Packing command

Run this in your nxnative folder on the Build Mac. Replace the game folder and the keys path with your own. Add --platform mac-app to get a Mac app instead of an iPhone and iPad app.

python3 scripts/build_ipa_from_nsp.py ~/Games/metroid-prime-remastered -k ~/keys/prod.keys
